Custer Rd. Construction – Use Alternate Routes
Custer Road, between Bridgeport Way and 75th Street, is a four-lane principal arterial carrying approximately 20,000 vehicles per day. This section of Custer Road is in very poor condition. The current Pavement Condition Index is 35, the lowest among Lakewood’s principal arterials. In practical terms, the roadway is beyond normal repair and requires full reconstruction. The corridor is lined with commercial businesses, has no sidewalks, and lacks a two-way left-turn lane to support business access and cross-street movements.
August 12 – September 30: Total road closure between Bridgeport Way and 75th Street West.
- Roadway: Complete reconstruction and replacement of the entire roadway surface.
- Traffic Flow: Widening the road to add a new continuous two-way left-turn lane.
- Pedestrian & Drainage: Addition of new curbs, sidewalks, street lighting, and updated storm drains.
Detours & Access
- Detour Route: Drivers are advised to use Bridgeport Way and 75th Street West.
- Local Access: Nearby local businesses remain open and accessible throughout the construction period.
