Clover Park Technical College

Clover Park Technical College (CPTC), located in Lakewood, Washington and South Hill, Puyallup, Washington, has a long history rooted in workforce development and vocational education. It was founded in 1942 as Clover Park Vocational Technical Institute to support the growing need for skilled labor during World War II. Initially, the school provided technical training to aid in the war effort, offering specialized programs for aircraft mechanics, welding, and other essential trades.

Key Milestones in CPTC History:

1942: Established as a war production training center.
1954: Became part of Clover Park School District and expanded its vocational programs.
1981: Separated from the school district and became an independent vocational technical institute.
1991: Transitioned into a state technical college and was renamed Clover Park Technical College.
2000s-Present: Expanded academic offerings, including associate degrees, professional certificates, and applied bachelor’s degrees. The college also developed strong partnerships with local industries.

Today, CPTC offers over 40 programs in fields such as health sciences, aerospace, business, culinary arts, and advanced manufacturing. The campus has grown significantly, featuring modern facilities like the McGavick Conference Center, Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center, and Health Sciences Building.
