After our productive morning meeting with Linda Smith, president and CEO of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, we found ourselves unexpectedly hungry. Although our hearts were set on breakfast from the very start, lunch seemed the more conventional choice—however, we decided to substitute lunch for breakfast at 1 PM at Biscuit House, a local favorite just a few miles from the office on South Tacoma Way.
A Warm Welcome
Within fifteen minutes of leaving the chamber conference room, we were stepping through Biscuit House’s front doors, passing by the covered outdoor seating. It was a bit windy, so we forego the outdoor for the indoor experience. Immediately, you smelled the place had just been cleaned after their breakfast rush, as the counters, tables and even the floors were spotless. Our hostess greeted us with a friendly smile, asking if this was our first visit. For me yes, for Linda no—she was immediately recognized.
Effortless Ordering

Biscuit House’s menu is a work of art—each section laid out with mouthwatering photos and descriptive titles of many breakfast treats. 3-Egg Omlets of various delights, along with breakfast pizza, sweet cream pancakes and Belgium Waffles to satisify any appetite.
Without hesitation, Linda selected the classic “Biscuits and Gravy,” a generous plate featuring two flaky buttermilk biscuits smothered in a peppered sausage gravy so rich you could almost taste the cream.
I opted for the a “Belgian Waffle,” its crisp exterior giving way to a pillowy interior bursting with seasonal strawberries and blueberries, crowned with a dollop of freshly whipped cream and a light sprinkle of powdered sugar. As a side dish, I added perfectly crisp, applewood-smoked bacon—each slice achieving that ideal balance of smoky flavor and tender chew.
Quick, Friendly Service

From the moment our orders were placed, service was remarkably swift yet unhurried. Within minutes, our plates arrived—steaming, generously portioned, and artfully presented. The attentive staff checked in just enough to ensure our satisfaction, without ever interrupting our conversation about upcoming community events and chamber initiatives. We even had an opportunity to talk to management, as they recognized Linda almost immediately.

Savoring the Moment
By the time we left, our appetites were more than satisfied—we felt energized, inspired, and ready to tackle the rest of our day. Biscuit House not only delivered on flavor and value but also provided the perfect backdrop for brainstorming and camaraderie.
If you ever find yourself in Lakewood craving a quintessential American breakfast—any hour of the day—do yourself a favor and stop in at Biscuit House. You won’t regret it.
